We got a letter this morning from the company operating our black, brown and green bins service saying that the Department of the Environment were introducing a new charging system.

Do I understand correctly that we are going to have to pay, by weight, for what goes in our green bin ?

Presently, we pay nothing [save for the standing charge] for what goes in the green bin i.e. no lift charge or weight of contents charge.

If you can take it to a council recycling depot, it's free.

    Thanks for that .

Luckily we have a good recycling depot near enough at Ringsend that would take most of the green bin material as well as glass and batteries and the like without charge.

Let's hope that the recycling centre does not start charging for the green bin items that are currently free or we might see fly tipping rising.

Green bin is still free with City Bin but monthly charge for all bins is 17 euro.

    GONE.
But more than likely pushed onto black and brown bins.

As the lorry round here does not have a split, it was all going into the one place. Pity really after people taking the time to divide the rubbish up at home, clean the cans, etc. Cant see the man investing in a new split lorry that weighs bins and has an on-board computer! So no difference this end unless the man uses it as an excuse to up the general bin charge.
