    Hi,

Was just wondering if someone could help me clear up my tax situation, I recently started a job out of college and I got my first months pay(5 weeks), this was 3115 gross, I paid 917 euro in total tax: 544(PAYE),124(PRSI),249(USC)

I assume I'm paying emergency tax? Should I ring revenue to clear this up?

    You should not assume anything.

    Check your payslip.

Does it refer to tax status "E"?

    Are your tax credits correct?

E is emergency tax. Fastest way to sort it is contact Revenue with your PPS and your new employers paye registered number (7 numbers with a letter at the end). Revenue will register your new employment and issue a tax credit cert to your employer which allows them to tax you correctly.
