Does the weather look like it will affect racing?

Hi, whilst it did snow in Clonard overnight, currently it is thawing.
Race is still scheduled for tomorrow with race route inspected later today and tomorrow morning.

    Thanks for the update.
However making a call tomorrow morning maybe too late if a lot of riders are traveling with an approximate 2 hour round trip. Also on the marshalls.

I'd be staggered if there are any issues. Forecast is for no more snow and overnight temperatures to stay in the 2-3 degree zone.

Superbly run race this morning. Cold and windy.
Myself and Harry Belafonte raced showed up.
My legs unfortunatley didnt show up.
Had a good chat and laugh with Harry.
Did a decent amount of work on the way back which made up a lot of time.
I was still a bit nervy after me tumble at The Traders cup and locked up my back wheel twice so apologies to those behind me.
Racing miles are better then training miles.

I was in the A4 which I found was a very well run race , I was expecting a nice tailwind to guide us home after the headwind on the way out , but no , a poxy cross headwind on the way back too .
I joined two lads up the road on the way out but knew nothing was going to stick that early on so sat up and joined the bunch . The 2 lads stayed away until the roundabout in kilbeggan which was a nice ride for them .
Didn't see or hear of any incidents which is always good .
I finished in the bunch sprint

Yeah was fully expecting a nice tailwind on the way back but the windy gods were laughing at us.

That wind was so weird. Probably my worst ever race ever tbh. Too much time away from the bike. Too many scones and fruit slices. Glad to have company for the remainder Koubtia. Clonard run a good race.

Thanks Clonard RC. Great show yesterday. There's always great racing despite the course looking a bit ordinary.

Yea really good course, great surfaces, fairly flat but never easy. Great job as always Clonard.

    Found this.

I 'took part' in the A4. Went up the road early on for no logical reason - there may have been a photo opportunity (look kids, I didn't win but I was off the front for a bit). One of my club mates was up the road with another rider for ages after that so I hovered around the front in case anyone decided to chase them down. Taking shelter behind the wall of Lucan Dayglo whenever I got the chance :-)

Blew up going off over the crest of the hill on the way back and limped home with a ragbag crew. Happy Days. Well done Clonard. Good safe race.

Actually, this reminds me, if you're coming back in a group, especially one that's working well together. Don't sit on for the whole trip back. Help out. You may be tired, but tell someone. It's a hell of a lot easier to struggle back with a group than struggle on your own.... I say that with obvious "being dropped repeatedly" experience

Rode the A3 race. Got up the road around 3k from the start with a clonard rider. A bike worx junior and a st tiernans rider then bridged across to us and we managed to stay away until about 6k from the finish. On the plus side my club mate won the gallop. Well organised race.

Rode the A3 too. the bunch thought that break was gone for the day till we spotted youse on the last drag before the finish. unlucky not to stay away after all that graft.

The headwind on the outward leg killed us. We were away for around 60km but we kinda started to fall apart a bit near the end lads missing turns etc. Once we turned into that cross headwind on the way back we knew we were were doomed.... Still sure you roll the dice...

Rode the A4 race and like the poster above was in the main bunch at the turn in Kilbeggan but the elastic broke going up the hill on the way back and limped home in a group of 3. (Thanks to the guy from Sundrive who kept us going)

speaking of rolling the dice, there were some near misses in the sprint, one lad lost a few spokes just to the right of me. not sure if he managed to stay up or not

I managed to get into a good position for the sprint but a lad sat up right in front of me...,I was probably fooling myself being up there at that stage anyway

Rolling the dice is the way to go. A4 bunch sprints are a lottery and at times a disaster. If you keep prodding at the point-end of a race, once or maybe twice this season a few will get away. My aim for this season in NEVER to arrive at 50 meters left to go with stuff left in the tank.
That said.....not planning my A3 season either!

Few hilly races coming up - great chance for those minded to get up the road. In A4, I'd leave it to near enough the last hill.

    Yeah absolultley.
The 4th guy who was with us seemed to blow his lights about 6km out.
But in fairness we were working great together all the same!
