Hi I would like opinions on the 2004/2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7 2L Diesel, good and bad preferably from people who own or has owned one.

I'm looking for something that has good leg room in the back and decent boot space. What are they like for motorway cruising and what MPG could I expect. They seem to be reasonably priced, is there a reason they aren't desirable.

For health reasons a jeep type vehicle is required because of its height.
All opinions good and bad welcome.

It's not really much help, I suppose, but I looked into getting one last year. I test drove one that turned out to be bit of a 'bullet dodging' experience (they wouldn't haggle €50 off the price, so i stood my ground on principle, and in the interim a mechanic gave it a check over and it was a repair bill waiting to happen).

As far as I know the flywheel can give hassle in them (or maybe it can't, but I think they were mentioned a lot when I was looking.. sticks out for some reason as a potential issue though). A girl I know has one. Has a 45 min commute to work each day (and home again obviously). 50% of it motorway. She likes it and finds it good on diesel.

Personally I'd recommend a Rav4, as they tend to, although pricier, hold their value better (and I had one, admittedly a 1.8 petrol, and it never missed a beat).
