    Hi all,

If someone is purchasing a house from a reciever. As part of getting the house ready for sale the reciever has fitted a new gas boiler but never commissioned it (gas / electricity turned off).

What would be a fair price for an rgi to commission it? Trying to find out who the original installer was.

Honestly i couldn't see any decent installer commissioning someone else's gas boiler install.
Whoever installed the boiler has to give a cert 2 and obviously must be a registered gas installer.
So either it was installed by a non registered cowboy or by an Rgi who genuinely forgot to leave a cert. In that case it's a matter of finding him

The installer is on the rgii website as an installer. My understanding is that no rgii should half install a boiler.

They are looking for more money to commission the boiler, just think they have already been paid for the work.

In fairness the quality of the rest of their work looks ok.

Major alarm bells ringing there! It is the law that they must commission the boiler.
Tell them you'll ring Rgii and say you were never issued a cert 2 for the install and that you're going to take legal action. I guarantee they'll be there before you hang up the phone.
When they commission the boiler I'd get a second guy in to check the system because the original installers attitude is terrible. Shocking actually

I believe there was no power into the house when the boiler was installed, but I'm not sure. It was offered to them they could come back when the power was back on, they are looking for approx €400. There's also the issue of warranty.

They're talking nonsense. Do as I said. They have to issue a cert 2

The advice was much appreciated. I hate paying for something that should of been done last October as a mater of course.

Waiting for sale to complete, but do plan on following up, will update here...

No update yet, few delays with different things. I haven't gone back to the original company yet to see about commissioning it.

I got the overall installation pressure tested/certified today so the supply can be unlocked by board gais networks.

I think it's going to be a struggle to get the original installer back, but we will see.

Have you talked to RGII, their not the worst to deal with on a not so unusual query.
    And will/should give advice.
    At least ask them.
    That's what their their for.
Tell them your Clare Dalys 3rd cousin

    €400 is crazy

Just to give an update on this. The original installer arranged to come back and commission the boiler, they didn't show up and have since not answered any calls/emails. I made an official complain to RGII this morning, but to
be honest i don't expect much to come of it.

In fairness to RGi and the CER they are normally very good at dealing with things like this, it would be illegal to do gas works and not certify the work, to certify the work the installer must commission the boiler.
