I'm half thinking of doing a fairly big trip through Africa from September into Spring so I'm currently trying to figure out if I can get any sort of insurance for that. Won't be booking much in the way of flights or hotels or anything like that nor will I be riding an expensive bike or using much in the way of new or expensive gear so don't need much in the way of cancellation or baggage cover but I would like to be reasonably confident that my medical costs will be taken care of if something goes seriously wrong.

Have any of you had any experience of finding travel insurance for such a trip? Low cost is key as I'm doing this on a pretty precarious shoestring.

Sounds more like you need medical insurance
