What is peoples opinion of Salou? I heard it was tacky. We're a family with two kids in their late teens (19, 17 and 16) they don't mind the parents when they are getting a free sun holiday. I want a place suitable for them, but also want a place that is has nice restaurants and places of interest to visit. I heard it was tacky.

    The other option is Marbella

I went there 2 years ago and wasn't that impressed. It was clean - well serviced by transport links - nice beaches - relatively safe. But a bit bland - lacking in something. It was Spain but it could have been anywhere. It is very new - I'd imagine there was a small finishing village there about 40 years ago and then the concrete trucks rolled in. I wouldn't call it tackey but I have no desire to go back.

Porta Ventura was 2 goods entertainment for the kids - a fairly decent park. One good thing was that it is a short taxi ride from the airport to salou. Was surprised at the number of Russians - all restaurants have Russian menus and I saw a few that only had Russian -

I really loved my visit to Sardinia a few years back. Very different experience than salou
