Golf in cork

Hey, with the evenings starting to get a little lighter, I just thought I'd see if there are any other cork golfers out there that might be interested in a few games over the summer? Not currently a member of a club so no handicap at present, which makes playing in opens a little difficult. If anyone else is in a similar position, or just fancies playing a new course and meeting a few new golfers then let me know. Would be good to get a few involved so we could maybe get some mini comps going, no handicaps required as we can organise this ourselves, would maybe hope to organise a game once or twice a month, but can see how it goes. Nothing serious, just play some golf, have a laugh or two, and meet some new people. Due to work, blarney would work best for me on weekday evenings, but most courses within the cork city area are doable!

Let me know if you're interested and we'll go from there, thanks

Are you interested in joining a club as I see that as the best way to meet people.

    Add your reply here.

Unfortunately just turned 35, so guessing that counts me out :-( musketry is a little far from home too, will probably go for one of the East cork clubs to start with, thanks for the info though :-)

    Played Cork Golf Club today.

    Brilliant course
Excellent greens - maybe best I have played.
Very fair course - maybe touching on easy side.
Great mix of holes - shapes ets.

I was in a team event - have been playing shocking last while. But, did ok today.

Drove the 6th gave me a bit of confidence back.

Bunkers are a little funny - but club house, history and atmosphere terrific.

Will be back once a year. Class spot.

Is the 6th the quarry hole? How did the drive on 5 go? One of my favourite driving holes

The pole(or stone can't remember ) in that fairway is too far left I think. Outdrive Seve?☺☺

I know lads who'd prefer Fota, can't see why tbf.

Sorry what is the seve thing ?

Amazing when the internet is good it is good.

Very funny and indicative of golf at the time - everyone in the crowd is dressed so formally.

On the Par 5 11th there is a tree or plaque, can't remember, maybe a tree with a plaque on it, anyway it's a long long way from the tee box and it's where Seve is meant to have landed his drive on that hole. When you compare where your drive lands and where his finished you can really see they are on different planet.

Its such a lovely place to be, the new bunkering could have been a bit better to give a bigger flat area in the bunkers, but that being hyper critical.
The run of holes from 3-11 are fantastic.

I think it's on the 11th par 5 there's a Spanish Chestnut tree planted to recognise his 332m drive down the fairway in 1983. I've just about reached it with driver 5 iron!!
Unreal at the time, probably downwind rock hard but even still!
