Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    It's a laptop CCFL screen - I got this kit http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111743845103?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It's a 12v input to the main lcd controller (which powers the inverter) - the max I can find in a charger here at the house is 2amp output @ 12v....

I'm trying to figure out if I need more amperage or a possible problem with either the controller or inverter.....

    Thanks.

Hard to tell. You can source a lot of current from a laptop battery.

I've used 12v non laptop screens with a 5A PSU. If you have an old ATX computer power supply you could try that before springing for a proper PSU.

    Judging by this:
    http://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/30541/lcd-led-panel-power-consumption (very non scientific)

a CCFL is up around 60W, which suits the 5A guide.

ok thanks, out with the soldering iron so - I'll cut the connector off a laptop psu that has a amperage that's too low.

I am playing around with one of the moment. The kit is hooked up to a very old Samsung screen taken from an Acer laptop that I purchased in 2002 or thereabouts.

I am powering it from a modified ATX PSU and it is drawing a steady 1.2A at 12V.
