Joists - What is going on here?

Lifted up some floorboards to check something and discovered whats in the pics below.

Is that safe and if not what should I do to fix it?

The joists are running from a party wall and seem to end halfway in house by sitting on the top of a wall (left side wall in hall). They then have 2 nails nailing them into a neighbouring joists which starts there and runs I presume to the gable wall on other side.

The best practise is for the joists to carry 3 times the thickness of the wall past the wall (so 300mm over in your case)

However I've seen that arrangement a few times.... Once the joists are securely held together and there's no risk of shrinkage or slipping, it should be o.k.
Not prefect by any means though.
If your removing all the floorboards, you could consider a continuous metal strap down along they line of the wall over the joists
