Exit settlement

I have agreed to leave my job, and have been given an exit settlement. I need to get this looked at by a lawyer (it says so in the paperwork), but don't know what kind of lawyer to look for.
It is only a short document which seems pretty straightforward, but I don't want to sign it without getting it looked at first.

Any solicitor will do. Usually work pay for this also as they use it as insurance of you coming back and saying that you didn't know what you were doing.

Any idea of a rough cost I should be expecting to pay a solicitor for this?

It really depends, if work are paying and have given you a budget, then simply ask the solicitor if they'll do it for that. Otherwise I'd expect about €250 INC VAT (the inc vat is very important as most will quote ex). As with everything shop around.

It really is a case of just reading over a document and informing you of your rights. That said I'm making alot of assumptions based on very little information. I don't encourage you to post any more info, especially if your settlement has a confidentiality clause which they almost always do,

There are some solicitors who do a lot of employment work. Some of the unions recommend them for their members. It would be better to go to one of these than a random solicitor who has spent a career conveyancing and doing probate.

Yep and ideally get a partner Matheson at but any solicitor will do in relation to this sort of matter, obviously someone recommended is always best.

I do employment law (not a solicitor though) and you would not believe just how little the average solicitor knows about employment law.
There are specialist firms that deal with employment law that would give a better steer at the same price.

Matheson are very good, but they are very high end pricewise.
