2006 Ford Focus engine light is yellow/orange , the light is on all the time what does this mean? Does it need. Service? Or is it something serious?

This means there is a reported problem with you car on the onboard computer you will need to get it scanned to see what fault is recorded. Sometimes it just needs a reset other times in needs work done

Thanks for the reply, if it needs work does it usually be a big job if it's yellow/orange light and constantly on?

Could be anything from an oxygen sensor failing to a hole in the exhaust to a coil pack, loads of causes. Are there any symptoms like is the car down on power or making any strange noises, burning any extra fuel?

It might be slightly down on power and is using a good bit of fuel

It could be anything. You need to get fault codes scanned.
Go to a local mechanic and get a quote.
Sometimes they will wave the diagnostic cost as part of the repair of whatever caused the fault.
