Can job offer be taken away

I did work experience at a local hair dressers and was told that when i finished they'd offer me work where I get paid for every shampoo i do. They have a couple of stylists there who have their own businesses and come in and do one day a week and get paid for every hair cut they do so they wanted to do the same with me so id get paid for every shampoo i do.
When it came to finishing work experience I told them i didn't want to get paid for every wash (id have to set up as self employed) and instead i wanted one day of work a week. They offered me tuesday half day and saturday full day but htat wouldnt work for me because then i cant sign on for tuesday so they told me "sorry it wont work out".

I told them i cant do tuesday but i would do saturday. Because i rejected the offer of tues+sat , and siad i'd just do sat, can they take the offer off the table? They said they needed someone that could do both shifts.

i think i had a job offer in writing but what i accepted was different to what they put in the writing of the job offer.

Offer made was not accepted by you so there is no contract. Seriously though why not work the Tuesday too. Surely working is better than not?

Job offers can be rescinded, even if they have to make up a reason. I had a job offer in writing from Elanco here in Sligo for a well-paying contract position. I went for the medical, came back with mild high blood pressure that my GP already knew about and considered well-controlled with medication, and the job offer was rescinded "based on the medical results". Nobody around here, including my GP, believed that for a nanosecond. But it's a moot point now, Elanco is closing.

If I do the half day tuesday i'd come out with less cash than if i signed on for the day and i don't know if they'd end up offering more hours, they want to have everyone slef employed so they aren't "responsible" for them (to be fair it is a small salon and there are really quiet periods when the partners get really funny about getting business in).

Even though i've accepted the one day? Surely if they put in writing that i could have the one day work they have to stand over it? like the tuesday wouldnt be every tuesday so it was just the one day that they were 100% offering with tuesdays when its busy, and thats what i took, the one day, just said i wouldit be available for half day tuesdays which were only a possibility anywya?

    Thanx for your feedback too!

Which is better for you? Experience, or cash?

You haven't aceepted what they offered which was a day and a half, they are under no obligation to change the offer to what you want

If they're making everyone be "self-employed", lisasimps, they are asking you to be an independent contractor. Most contractors are their own businesses, so you'd be no better off than if you were paid by the wash. You'd have to file your own taxes and keep your own financial records and even very likely hire your own accountant. Are you in a position to do this? If not, maybe you dodged a bullet.
