This last year the amount of people putting those cheap chinese bulbs in there old cars seems to have doubled.

Personally , they are very sore on my my eyes , especially if driving behind me. I sometimes pull over just to let them pass me out.

Are they legal and if so, do Garda ever stop these people?

They're illegal in reflectors, they need washers and self leveling in projectors. The Gardai are only tasked to enforce exceeding the posted limit and DUI.

The NCT is failing aftermarket HIDs but as usual people just swap out the illegal part for the test then reinstall when it passes.

It goes down to policing, there's little or none. I did spot a couple of posts on the Garda twitter page of cars stopped with blue parking lights and headlights out as part of Operation Solas.

There's 1 guy around my area in particular with these ****ing lights. He has the "dims" set way too high, literally blinding you coming behind you or towards you. When he's behind you, the whole inside of your car will be lit up as if it's daytime ffs.

My car has them factory fitted and without doubt they are better, but are they better in halogen reflectors? The light seems to go everywhere instead of the road.

They make an older car look stupid TBH.

They are the automotive equivalent of wandering around with your hands down the crotch of your trackies.

RACE TUNING LIGHTS BECAUSE I AM RACE TUNING

This annoys my inner goat. What they need is to sit infront of their lights and be made stare at them for a few minutes, like they do to such numpties in China

HID equals Hello, I'm a Dickhead.
