Explain Lan Cable Tester Result

    I connected a tester into the RJ45 wall plate jacks on either end of a run of Cat 5e cable.

    The lights on both testers illuminate 2,3,4,5,6,8 simultaneously.

    Lights 1 and 7 never illuminate.

    Does that mean that both cables 1 and 7 are broken somewhere along the line.

    1 and 7 arent connected at all. It could be 1 is off at one end and 7 is off at the other, or both at the same end, or a break/pinch somewhere along the cable.

    Start by reterminating the run, then if that doesnt work you need to check any exposed areas for damage.
