i have virgin media 240mb broadband,

noticed today when online that alot of the ads on website were in a foreign language, and that on some websites, i was brought to their Belgian version.

I used www.whatismyipaddress.com and it does indeed say that my location is in Belgium.

This is the case on my laptop, tablet and phone when connected to wifi,

When i go to 3g on my phone, it says my location is ireland.

Has anyone any idea how to help fix my location please?

You need to leave it off for 1-2hrs to get a new address, rebooting wont help.

I'm getting the same issue on Virgin broadband and it is interfering with my Xbox connecting to Netflix and our Mobile devices using Sky Go services too (tells us that the service is not available in this region). I have never had this issue before and have had UPC/Virgin broadband for 7 years so something must be changing lately.
I'm trying the router shut down for a couple of hours to see if that sorts it so fingers crossed. I'll report back if it works.

Started happening with my connection today as well. Thankfully will be changing from VM soon so the issue and all the other crap from them will disappear.

Well, left the router off from Saturday morning until 7pm today (Sunday) and my ip is still in Belgium which is really messing with Netflix and Sky. The IP address is listed as being one geographically registered to Ireland but online services pick it up as from Belgium so it looks like there is precious little I can do about it.
Must be Virgin Media fiddling with their termination points to the Internet or something. Hopefully it will sort itself soon.

    Similar issue here.
Am on VM 240mb broadband and noticed 3 days ago that when I hit google.com it redirects to google.be (it doesn't happen on my 3g carrier) so is specific to VM.
I've powered off modem over night but still gives me .be for Google.

However I must state that my VoD services (rte player, netflix etc) appear unaffected.

Querying whatsmyip gives me some services saying I'm located in Belgium while others say Ireland.

So an annoyance rather than hindrance at this point for me.

Any official line from VM? Seems a number of people have been affected.

My Netflix is working fine again now however all of the "subtitle" languages are in either Dutch or French so I am being seen as from Belgium here too.
I have traced the issue back to Google DNS services and where they are locating the IP address as most other services are picking it up correctly. I have an idea that Netflix, Sky and so on are using Google DNS for their location services so until that is updated with the correct location then we are stuck with this issue. :(

Its happening me too, although I dont have netflix etc... so the only impact is having to change the language to english on google.

Its annoying though, why is it happening? Its been going on a good few days now.
