Have a old set of st 7700 9 speed levers on my bike which are working perfectly but the old 7700 brakes are worn out and going to replace. the usual compatibility question arises and wondering if anyone is running 5800 105 calipers or similar with these levers? Bit of a long shot I suppose seeing how old the levers are but very happy with them .

well, went ahead and got the 5800 brake calipers and they work just fine with the 7700 levers. These levers are 15 years old so you wouldn't think brand new 105 calipers would work well at all but they work really really well. Really!

There possibly is a higher/longer pull ratio on the 7700 levers and a short pull ratio with the 5800 calipers and so long as the levers have a greater pull than the calipers then there is no reason why they wouldnt work well. Its only if it was the other way around that you could run into problems.
