Calf not sucking

    Have a cow calved 2 weeks today and the calf is only sucking one side of her.Calf seems happy is thriving and looks full but won't go near the teats on one side,anyone come across this before?

    See it a lot. Normally the cow has plenty for them on the one side. Just keep putting the calf around to the other side. He soon learn.

    If the calf is full and healthy, leave well enough alone.

    I wouldn't worry about it at all, seen loads do it. One calf only sucked the front tits for a month and when he got big enough and smart enough to realise there were two more bottles at the bar, he sucked them until she came back into milk in them.

    We'd see it the odd time too. I'd usually strig out the quarter to take the pressure off the spin and leave it easier sucked.

    seperate him from the mother for a few hours...get him hungry

    milk the quarters that he is drinking

    let back to the cow and he won't be long figuring out which tap at the bar has the drink;)
