What should my tyre pressure be?

Well, I thought that checking what the correct tyre pressure for my new car should be would be simple but apparently it's not.
Can anyone tell me what my tyre pressure should be?

The plate on the door pillar of the car says that the pressure should be 38PSI for both the front and rear.
In the owner's manual it says 34 front and 31 rear.
I also received a supplemental information booklet relating to tyre pressure information which shows two entries.
Firstly, 34 front and 31 rear
Secondly 38 front and rear which is flagged as being MSTA tyre pressure.

I tried googling MSTA and couldn't find what it means.

When I check the current tyre pressures they are all different but between 36 and 39.

    34f 31r sounds about right.
Do you have tyre pressure monitors?

I'm talking about the older model one, so maybe they've changed.

The car is fitted with a tyre pressure monitoring system. I don't know how it works but it does not inform you which tyre is underinflated. There is just a single warning light to indicate a problem.

I popped into a Hyundai service centre today. They said that the tyre pressure monitoring system was based on wheel speed sensors. They agreed that the manual and its supplement were confusing, they also had no idea what MSTA means. However they said that the correct tyre pressure is what is shown on the label on the door pillar which is 38 front and rear. So, even though 38 sounds a bit high to me, I guess that's what I'll use.

Does the manual give a listing for your tyre size, maybe it's just a bigger wheel that wasn't included in the original manual?

I have attached images of both the label on the door frame which shows the tyre pressures and the relevant page from the owner's manual. Hopefully you can see them properly.

My tyre size is 195/55R16 87H

So on the door frame it says 38 front and 38 rear.

In the manual it says 34 front and 31 rear but also says 38 front and 38 rear with an asterisk indicating this applies to MSTA tire pressure.
