We are currently planning an entire renovation an 80's 3 bed semi and are at the shy end of the budget now. Our builder has suggested in order to save money instead of pulling out the fitted wardrobes that are there (2 double rooms) we work with base units/shell that are there and just get new sliding doors fitted. There doesn't seem to be much info out there on this approach. Any advise? Is this a thing wardrobe companies will do? TIA.

we did this recently, just replaced the existing doors with sliding wardrobes.
The company (slidingwarddrobesdirect.ie) added in extra shelving also so the warddrobes went the full length of the bedroom. would recommend them.
