How long to get French speeding ticket

Apologies for the resurrection, but I got snapped in a hire car by a fixed speeding camera about 20 mins outside Beauvais at the end of September last. Had notice of this from Sixt the following day, along with an accompanying admin fee to process the fine.

Still haven't received a ticket from the local municipal authority & just wondering if 4+ months is typical of the wait?

Yes I don't think there will be a ticket received, the owner or the car Sixt already received that and said it was you, French have no power over your licence.

Don't think so. You're charged a processing fee (€19.00 in this case) by the rental company for forwarding on your particulars to the relevant authority.

Details of the fine & appropriate methods of payment are then posted to your home address AFAIK.

Correspondence from Sixt said I'd receive details of the fine by post from the local authority, but that was in September and I've still heard nada.

I'm in France a few times a year for work, so I don't want issues surrounding an unpaid traffic violation cropping up at passport control in CDG.

Got two of these admin fee notices from europcar in France after they forwarded my details to the authorities. Never heard any more about it. That was over two years ago

As long as Sixt are happy, why would you worry about a French ticket?

I don't think rental company can pay a fine on behalf of someone.
Not in France anyway or most other countries on the Continent.

They charge a fee for giving driver details to the authorities.
And what authorities will do with that it's up to them. They might but might not post a fine.

Sixt couldn't care less. they've taken their admin fee and that's the end of it for them.

The only issue is if the French police send the fine and it's not paid. You "could" get stopped at customs when next over there and be asked to pay the fine.

Basically, if you go to France regularly, then you're better of paying if you do receive it, but in this case OP still hasn't been fined, so there is nothing to worry about.

If it's an Irish registered car, I'm guessing the French authorities can't get the address etc to send any fine to? How did Sixt receive notice so early (next day?).

I was flashed 17th Sept at 00:28 & had notice of the admin charge by email from Sixt at 16:03 on the 18th.

Buggers can be efficient enough when they wanna be.
