How long to expect for Sky (not SkyQ) installation

Hi all, hopefully moving into a new house on Friday (but I'm not 100% sure of that yet). I'm hoping to get Sky TV in as quick as I can. I know SkyQ has probably got them busy but does anyone know how long I could expect to wait before they send an engineer?

If it helps the property already has a working dish and cables as the current owners have Sky themselves.

7 days will be the earliest install appointment you'll get

From what I can gather the SkyQ installations wont commence for a few weeks otherwise there would be quite a delay. Id guess that you should have the instillation carried out somewhere in the region of 7 - 14 days. You could be lucky and get it a wee bit quicker. Its all down to the number of free slots the installers have and this will vary from one part of the country to the other.

Regarding the use of existing equipment the installer is supposed to check all this when he's there and replace anything he considers not safe or fit for purpose.

The reps over in the Sky Talk to forum would give you a better idea if you posted there as they would ask you to send them a PM with your contact details for them to call you back.

Someone posted over the Sky community forum earlier that their SkyQ install was happening this coming weekend, Sat and another Wed next week.

As you probably know there is a quite lengthy thread running over in the Sky Talk To forum about the Q boxes and Im fairly sure that I read a reply from one of the reps (could be wrong though) that it was some date in the second week in March before the installs begin.

Is that Sky Community forum not UK based i.e. almost exclusively used by Sky's UK customers?

UK based but not exclusive to UK customers, forum members locations not listed.

Officially the installs begin on the 29th Feb. One of the lads posting here on boards and DS forum (Dave_Dublin) posted on DS that his install is happening on March 1st.

The person scheduled for next Wed has posted the following
Sky have just phoned me, apologising profusely for giving me an installation date before the 'official' launch at the end of the month. Long story short - apparently there have been 'issues' with the dates being given out by Sky. Actually there have been 'issues' with the whole launch, never mind just the dates. Not to worry ( ho hum ), my new date is 3rd March, more in line with everybody else's installation.

JD Buddies got all the early install dates in Ireland :pac:

TBH the early install dates are all staff/JD's buddies to let the engineers practise before being let loose on people like Muffler and FTAkeith who'll be asking questions like what colour the capacitors are in the remote control :P

Im not sure what you're getting at or trying to imply with that comment. Just so we have a level playing field here can you confirm if you work for Sky?

No need to be tetchy it was just a little joke referring to your 'enthusiast nature' for this sort of thing.

In answer to your second point No I'm afraid I can not. However if you take the posts in this and the other forums I think it's pretty obvious there is some relationship there, perhaps not a typical employee/employer one.
