Heatloss in a Victorian era house

I'm going to be starting a thread about what looks to be a poorly detailed insulation, vapour membrane and roof ventilation job we got done on our attic conversion and renovation back in 2009/10. Didn't know enough back then to pull the builder up on it then but the few bits of information I've picked up since then make me think there were quite a few mistakes made and I'll be wanting to try to rectify some of them. Once I get some photo's together I'll post that thread.

However, I've been sleeping in the aforementioned converted attic the last couple of weeks and while it's felt quite cold on the cold Winter mornings my thermometer in the room invariably reads a higher temperature than I would have expected. At midnight last night the outside temp was 5ºc while the attic bedroom was 21ºc. The heating went off at 9pm 3 hours earlier. By 7am the outside temp had dropped to 3.5ºc. At 12pm the outside temp was back to 5ºc and the attic bedroom temp is 15ºc. The heating hasn't been on for 15 hours but the time span I checked temps for was 12 hours midnight to midday. So 21-15ºc in 12 hours with an outdoor average temp of 4ºc odd.

Would you say, that that level of heatloss was actually OK and that insulation wise I don't really have to worry about the amount of insulation just the poor vapour control/sealing and roof deck ventilation?

You will need to be a lot more specific with the different issues here for u to get useful feedback.
For example: how many storeys in the house, what other occupants etc etc.
Hot air rises so 21 to 15, without knowing the wind speed, as well as the makeup of the attic: glazing and otherwise, is not that useful
