Looking for something comfortable up to 2k

I'll need a car. €2k is rather maximum, however if there's something extraordinary I could pay bit more. As well I could pay less if I can find something reasonable.
It needs to be reasonably big (fit 2 adults + 2 kids + luggage) so preferably some big hatchback or estate or suv.
Safety is a priority so preferebly as many airbags as possible + ABS, ESP, etc...

Must be petrol and have reasonable power so around 2 litre engine would be nice. Anything bigger would probably be too expensive to tax.

Must be reasonably reliable, but if purchase price is to be twice lower, I can live with lower reliablity.

    Any recomendations?

    Looks nice.
Never though about volvo - seem to plenty of choice for below €2k.

However would buying oldish car like that with turbo not be asking for trouble?

Were there non-turbo 2 litre versions?

I think all Turbos were 2l. IIRC it's a light pressure turbo and so shouldn't be as stressed as say one in a modern diesel. I've never heard of them failing if they've been maintained anyway right.

    Thanks for all advice.

I was also thinking about following.
    1. Mondeo MK4 - 2.0 petrol (1.6 seems to slow). They are bit over the budget but are probably the most modern of all, and still big and comfortable.

    2. Peugeot 407, 1.8 or 2.0 petrol. Can be got for nothing. Any disadvanateges?

    3. Hyundai Trajet 2.0 petrol. Very big and practical. On the other hand I'm concerned that it will be a nightmare to drive.

    4. Mazda 6 - 1.8 or 2.0. Had one before and I was very happy with it, however it rusted so badly I had to get rid of it. Affraid they are all like that.

With car adviced above - Accord seems a good option, but I already have a honda (civic) so might get something else for a change.
Volvo - they looks great and cost little. Where's the trick? I'd be affraid, that something little breaks down and it's going to cost more than the car is worth. Would that be the case?

Saab 9-5 - lovely. How's situation with parts availibitily following factory shut down?

Subaru legacy - might actually think of that as well. Would MPG be failry poor considering its 4wd?
