    Hi.
I declared my van off the road in 2013 when the new taxation law came out because I wasn't using it but wanted to keep it. I declared it off for 12 months which ended July 2014.
I just realised that I neglected to declare it off the road after it expired in 2014.
I assume that I will owe the arrears from July 2014 but I have a few questions.

    1. What is the situation of i want to tax it now? Do I have to pay the arrears plus 3 months tax?

    2. Can I declare it off the road again now a be liable for just the arrears?

    3. Will I avoid arrears if I sell the vehicle?

    4. Will I avoid arrears if I register the vehicle in someone else's name and then re register it back into my name later?

I'm not a tax dodger and pay my taxes but just curious about option 4.

    Constructive input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If the rules are the same for vans as cars then your questions 3 and 4 apply. Sell it to someone you know and the back tax is scrapped. buy it back early in the month as you will be required to pay the tax for the entire month you purchased the vehicle.
