Water reconnection fee

So we were sale agreed on a property for over 7 months which fell through just after Christmas  but have now gone sale agreed on a house that is being sold by a receiver on behalf of the bank. The property has been unoccupied for more than 2 years and the services have been disconnected. We were able to find out the electricity reconnection fee but I cannot find a cost listing anywhere for the water. we were wondering roughly what the cost of getting the water reconnected might be. Even a ballpark figure. The house is located in a village in north county Dublin if that helps.

Anyone have any experience or gone through something similar?

Water is extremely rarely disconnected - are you certain that it has been?

Turned off at the stopcock/meter (by the owner/EA/etc not Irish Water) is much more likely

We are not 100% certain exactly how it has been disconnected but the house has been unoccupied for at least 2 maybe even up,to 3 years. We assumed that the water would have been formally disconnected after this length of time.

Is it not usually the case?

The water valve is located under the black water meter cover on the footpath at the front of the house.

Hopefully it is just turned off as opposed to disconnected. In the event that it is completely disconnected, what's a worst case scenario price to get it reconnected?

Could it be similar to electricity and be in and around €2500?

No - I'm aware of houses unoccupied for decades with intact water supplies. Prior to metering there was little reason for the water bodies (councils then) to even know what was and wasn't occupied.

I don't think anyone is going to have an idea of fees if it has as its so unlikely anyone has ever been charged. New connection fees involve far more pipework than you'd require even if the supply was cut and capped.
