Valentines Day - I Love You All

There have a been a few threads popping up here and there about singledom and relationships. So with Valentines day next weekend I ask you good folk of AH's, what are your thoughts on the occasion?

Does it bring you out in a rash of romance or turn your hardened hearts a little more to stone? Maybe it sees you reflect on your choice of who you are sharing your life with, little niggles of regret growing larger. Do you find your mind and maybe your heart turning to the one that got away?

    Because there is always one.

For me it's just another day but it's loaded nature isn't lost on me. I will of course feel a little twinge spending it as a single woman but little is all it will be.

Come forth AH's in to the warm bosom of this thread and share all :)

We don't do anything for it here. I think I'll cook my husband a nice steak dinner with wine, because he's the best.

Whenever I think valentine's day, I think of steak and bj day. Love this pic :D

All joking aside I don't see/understand the hype for one day??
But I'm wicked boring/also feel Xmas/New Years etc basically any event/thing hyped up/forced enjoyment is just not fun/stressful.

I agree but rather contradictory of me if I were in a relationship during it then I'd be sad if I didn't receive a little card.

Ah I love receiving cards and giving them. They can be really heartfelt. I have a few precious "special friend" cards from my best friend and a few home made ones her daughter gave me.
My mam always sent cards. Every birthday I would get "a wonderful daughter" card. So I guess it was her influence on me :)

    Damn Imma gonna cry now.

Ah now don't do that or you'll set me off.

I know a lot of people love cards, and put a lot of love and thought into them, but I've never really 'got' it. I'm just not a card person.

Then again unlike your mum, my parents were never big card people and if you were lucky enough to get a Christmas card it would be handed with your gift. Such a bad example!

    Ah I'm grand again :)

Apart from mam and the odd time my friend, I don't know anyone who is in to cards. But I actually collect them. I mean if I see one that I like and is for no specific occasion then I'll buy it.

A bit of meaning is nice. The last card I received was lovely but lacked any kind of sincerity at all.

If anyone here is sad about being alone on Valentine's Day, just remember..

Nobody loves you on any other day of the year either.

Maybe but I'm quite fond of myself. Does that count? *winks*

Just to contradict myself, the cards my little nephews make me mean the world to me.

    Example:
    Dear Candie,

You are not too ugly or stupid.

    Love,

    Batman.

Ah lordie that's cute Candie :)

I spent Christmas recovering from pneumonia, and the boys - 6 year old twins - decided they were sleeping in my bed with me. I bought them both Batman outfits for Christmas which they refused to take off. Every morning, I woke up with two little Batmen in the bed, having a competition to see who could fart first.

They're little tyrants. I adore the pair of them. :)
