Shoe for a nightclub?

I'm 18, a lad and I started going to nightclubs recently, not too fond of them but they have their moments.
Anyways I tend to wear white converse, I'm 5'9 so most girls tower (exaggeration) over me in their 6 inch heels but more importantly, I want something different.
Not too keen on leather boots, I was thinking maybe a black suede pair of chukkas or desert boots, possibly Chelsea boots? I like brown but 1- the grime and dirt would be easier to spot, and 2- it might be a bit bold, considering most don't wear brown suede boots.
    What's your opinions?
For someone who tends to wear largish jumpers and slim fitting jeans (blue, black or grey, sometimes distressed) what would you recommend?

I like the brown suede boots idea. Yes, a little different - but you want to show up as an individual, yes? and they would look quite cool in a preppy way.

Quote---"2- it might be a bit bold, considering most don't wear brown suede boots."

Don't be a slavish follower of fashion "shoulds".
Instead, try on stuff and examine in the mirror with a cold clear eye:

-- Does it look ok with rest of outfit? Does it express the essential you? do you LIKE it?

    You'll knock 'em dead. Enjoy!

One thing about the suede is that they are going to get wrecked by people spilling drink on them, people standing on them etc in a busy nightclub. I think they are impractical for a club. Go with a leather option instead. There are some really cool styles out there. Check out River Island or Topman (Topshop)

I'm expecting them to come back wrecked, but I'd be buying shoes off asos etc just to have for going to nightclubs.
I mean you can scrub them up to a certain extent but I'm just looking some shoes I can wear on nights out.
+ I'm not a big fan of leather..

One thing you should probably know is that 'most' people are poorly dressed. And I mean really, really poorly dressed. The typical Irish male get up for a nightclub is usually bootcut jeans, check 'going out' shirt and brown square toed pleather shoes left over from their confirmation in 1994. Bonus points if the shirt is untucked and long enough to look like a nightgown.

You could rock up at the nightclub in a velour onesie and still be better dressed than these toolbags.

Brown suede is a great material for a shoe. The colour is subtle enough not to stand out too much but the look of suede has a casual elegance that you don't quite get with leather. Get a good suede protector spray and give the boots a good blast of it every few weeks. Clarks desert boots are reasonbly priced at around €130 but if you're really looking for throwaway shoes that you wouldn't mind getting a drink spilled on you can get Roamers on Amazon.co.uk for about €30ish

Desert boots, dark jeans, jumper and a casual shirt underneath.

Come the summer time they'll look great with chinos

Get the brown suede. Win everything.

Desert boots aren't going to make you taller.

Would you really wear a jumper over a shirt to a nightclub? Back when I was young all we wore were loose t shirts as we'd be dancing our asses off all night. :)

Or "good" knockoff (as in market stall/ebay fake, not clone brand) Timberland boots, which seems to have become the norm around me.

Fairly common actually.. most people use it like a pub for shots with stupidly loud music!

I'm not too bothered about looking taller, I'm fairly tall and I'm growing but every little helps!

I guess "nightclub" meant something different in the 90s! :)

If you want to attract "the ladies" you just need to look clean, smart, and not drunk. Unless you are really really ridiculously good looking, you won't pull off that "messy hair / thrown on clothes" look. You could put loads of man-jewellry on and wear silly tight jeans with pointy boots and all that, but you'd also look like you're trying too hard.

How about bright colours? Instead of a navy jumper, how about a white, yellow, or red one? Something like this:

    cotton-crew-sweater-red-heather.jpg

Bit brighter and more appealing than a navy or black jumper. In the darkness of a nightclub, you want to stand out a little.

You could take the same approach with your footwear. Why not make them something to be noticed, a conversation starter? I've had so many occasions where girls have said to me "I like your (insert piece of clothing)". Good way to get talking to someone. Most girls love clothes and if they see a guy with interesting or different clothes, they might want to talk to him.

Shoes like these have been a favourite of mine for years now, they are light, casual, comfortable as f**k and just that little bit different looking:

Floral ones like these might be a bit much:

But if you wore these out to a nightclub I GUARANTEE you'll have some girl or other come up and say something about your shoes. The rest is up to you. ;)

Rather than Converse or traditional styles, what about luxury runners? In last few years, every major fashion house has started making beautiful runners that have the shape of regular runners, but use suede/leather materials and generally, look beautiful. A few examples, based on budget

    Lanvin suede sneakers (expensive)

Filling Pieces mountain cut sneakers (less expensive)

    Greats suede sneakers (reasonable)

I tend to keep it quite low key.. worked so far but I do like those red and white vans!

Back to shoes/boots what do you think of Chelsea boots?

For me, a bit "I'm in an indie band". But if you like them, go for it. They only really look good with slim jeans though.

At the minute I'm looking at a pair of slim light wash denim and a cream/off-white jumper and maybe brown Chelsea boots.. I get told I look like a musician so that might not be too bad

If you're going for a light / cream top, go with darker jeans. Rather than light wash. Light wash will work better with a darker or coloured top, like red. Contrast and balance is important. :)

You don't want to look "dressed up" - you want to look casual and relaxed and comfortable. Hardy Amies said that "a man should look as if he has bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them."

Be careful about looking like a musician - if a girl asks you "are you in a band" don't you think she'll be disappointed to find out you aren't? :)

A girl I know what with me when I got the jeans and she recommended a cream top!
I think a lot of that's how you act too.. If you look for approval it's as if you've made an effort but it's only worth it if it's validated.

I'm a musician anyway just not in a band.

Anyways I think I'll look at a cheap pair of boots (any other suggestions?) I'll look into some suede protector too

You've already started a thread about Chelsea boots and got tons of feedback and recommendations and you're back two months later still asking what people think of them? Take a chance and get a pair. You're not buying a house.

Never did I think I'd seeing filling pieces under less expensive hahahahaha

Jokes aside, I'm also 18 and bought a pair of brown suede chelsea boots in october and they have become my go to shoe (I wear them 3/4 times a week). Was never really a fan of desert boots, and chelsea boots fit my look much better. They're not the best for clubbing as they get quite dirty but they look good so :p

Obviously it depends on what I'm wearing though. I have a pair of navy leather monkstrap boots which I ADORE, and Gucci high tops I got for 99e in Kildare Village for that more casual look.

Regarding suade protector, its good against a few drops of rain but no match for someone dropping a jagerbomb on your feet.

Leather would be better for a niteclub.

Something like this isnt too expesive and would wear well.
