Anybody else have this issue at the moment where steam is not displaying webpages correctly. This includes in the steam app and on my chrome browser.

I've tried a couple of fixes like turning off my anti-virus and restarting but I've had no luck. If anybody has any ideas I would live to hear them.

Try a CTRL+F5 to bypass your local browser cache and completely reload the page. Otherwise try using Firebug or Fiddler to see what requests are failing.

I tried reloading the cache and no good I will have a look at those programs and see if I can come up with anything.

Anything that will capture and display the HTTP headers will do, it needn't be those ones. Though Firebug in Firefox/Chrome is simple to use at least.

But if it's not a dodgy copy being cached, some of the requests may be failing for any number of reasons.

For some reason I think it might be internet speed or some server my provider is using because there are other webpages e.g. boards or google that load fine and others eg. netflix/youtube that won't.

Which would imply DNS issues perhaps. Valve uses various CDN providers for their content. Or there could be routing issues. Hopefully the HTTP responses will shed more light on this.

    run from command prompt:
    ping images.akamai.steamusercontent.com

    You should get:

Pinging a1507.d.akamai.net [159.134.168.217] with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 159.134.168.217: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=59
    Reply from 159.134.168.217: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=59

If you get a name resolution error and it can't resolve the IP from the domain name then the problem is with DNS. (just double check that the steam page is not working from another device like your mobile).

You can then complain to your ISP and as a temporary workaround use google dns or opendns instead (google it, easy to configure)

If other devices connect okay and the ping worked fine then it could be some proxy operating on your PC (something like Hola perhaps?)

So just an update on this it turns out it was a DNS issue after all. I was pinging the store and it was coming back perfectly which I thought was very strange. So I just switched over my DNS settings on my router to Googles and evrything loaded up right as rain. Now the problem is trying to get the ISP to fix the issue as it is a hardwired into the apartment I am renting and it's not one of the regulars like eircom or virgin so I will have to try an explain this to the letting agency:rolleyes:

Anyway thanks for the help guys much appreciated.
