This I find interesting, despite the major outrage on social media about Will Leahy being axed from 2fm drive, according to the Jnlr Colm Hayes had 7000 more listeners than Will Leahy, indeed the listenership has fallen slightly again since Hayes was removed last July.

You are entitled to your opinion of course but sadly for Will the audience didn't agree with you. The loss in terms of figures was close to 100,000 from the time he started in 2007.

    So what have we learned?

Social media should never be used as a gauge of anything.

Ray D'Arcy is constantly slated, his figures are going up.

Joe Duffy is constantly mocked and derided, he's one of the most popular shows on Irish radio.

Anton Savage is consistently praised, his figures are falling.

More they're a reflection of quantity, not quality.

The JNLRs aren't a reflection of anything. They take a sample in every county and proportionalise it. There is no scientific method or analytical masterstrokes. They take a sample from each county and that sample speaks for the whole county.

Yet people still lose their jobs over them.
