Old Pultney 12 or 17 depending on the price. The 17 is superb, but might be a bit pricey for two bottles.

Which Grouse? The normal one isnt majorly peaty at all, Black is. Wouldn't recommend it much either though.

Speysides are probably where you want to aim. Cardhu is a personal favourite

If you're a fan of Irish whiskey but want to branch out into Scotch, id highly recommend Auchentoshan whisky.
Its a scotch that's triple distilled but is still very much a scotch!
Its very tasty, fruity and full of flavour, very easy to drink!
Its also not too expensive, they have a few bottles out, ages and casks versions and so forth, so you might get three bottles for 100 euro!

The Aberlour 10-year-old is a lovely dram and costs much less than you'd expect from the taste. Easily under 100 for two.

    Thanks gents
L1011 tried both grouse and not a fan, but maybe in time i'll appreciate them
I might pick up a bottle of Cardhu most people rave about it. Is there a particular vintage that people lean toward as I think they've 12, 15, 18 and 21
cheers also speedwell and flicflak, I'll see what I can pick up..

Many people would consider the normal Famous Grouse as not worth appreciating! I've got a litre of Black Grouse which was about 28 quid in Denmark which is in my drinking whiskeys currently and its... meh.

Cardhu 12 is all I've been able to afford as yet.

I'd recommend you go with 2 bottles of different distilleries from different regions.

There have been good recommendations on here, just go with whiskys with an age statement of 10 or 12 years, with different styles so you can see what you like.

A Speyside is a good idea, maybe an island whisky as well would be good.
