    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/12129402/The-30-most-beautiful-towns-in-Europe.html
The Japanese tourist board has revealed which it thinks are the prettiest towns in Europe - and there is only one UK town among them. Conwy, in Wales, was the only UK location to make the list of 30 most beautiful European towns and villages.

The picturesque walled market town, which sits on the north coast and has a medieval castle, is now being promoted as a "must-visit" destination for Japanese tourists, after being picked as one of 30 recommended small destinations by 300 Japanese travel agents.

The agents were presented with the challenge to pick the 30 best by the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA), which wants to promote travel to attractive little places in Europe.

No English or Scottish towns made the list but Kilkenny, a medieval settlement in Ireland, also with its own castle, managed to be included.

Looking forward to the influx of Japanese tourists, hopefully they read Conde Nast which had Kilkenny the friendliest city in Europe as voted by their readers.

The Japanese are the latest to have great taste to pick Kilkenny in their top 30 most beautiful towns in Europe. Yeah it is a city before you laugh...

In fairness to it, Kilkenny is a nice place. And great craic to go out in.

Kilkenny getting some free advertising in the Netherlands, from their best selling paper, the Telegraaf:
HINDELOOPEN - Japanese tourist board, Japanese Association Travel Agents (JATA), has made a list of the thirty most beautiful towns of Europe. Between the towns of Lech (Austria) and Kilkenny (Ireland) adorns all of a sudden there is a Dutch name: Hindeloopen.

From my experience, a lot of foreigners have heard of Kilkenny through Kilkenny beer, something I don't think is beautiful...

Kilkenny's a lovely spot alright, but to promote it as among the top 30 prettiest towns in Europe is preposterous.

Misleading/incomplete info so far - there were criteria which explain it a bit better:
A selection committee then came up with a top 30 after looking at criteria that included assessing which places had low media exposure in Japan and no package tours available; wanting to ensure a wide variety of destinations from the whole of Europe and tourist attractions the travel companies thought would appeal to Japanese travellers.
