I have been finding things tough going lately. I'm in 6th year and always had anxiety problems I think. Just constant worry stress and panicking. I keep getting fit of panick attacks just whole chest swelling up and having to run to bathroom in study to catch my breath. I need to excessively use the toilet every day. Stomach pain and passing noises fron my gut. Heart pounding. Just kind of Over worrying about bizarre and negative things. Low self esteem very little confidence or perseverance. And things down that line. Kind coming and going for the past year and half or so. Good days and bad days. Real sometimes down in the dumps and in different world. Negative thinking. Is there something there? I am going to someone next week. I feel drained. I think my mental health isn't very strong.

I would go to your gp and explain the situation to him first of all. He will either recommend medication or refer you to a councellor/psychiatrist.

Anxiety can be a tough thing to have to deal with on a daily basis. It's important to remember your not alone in the fight as plenty of people suffer from it in different ways.

For now you should join a few of the threads here on boards which will allow you to discuss your problems and get support.

    Hi there
I am sorry to hear what youre going through. Yes I know its a tough time for you with the stress of the Leaving Cert coming up so I would advise you to go and see your GP and explain to him or her what youre going through and ask for a referral to a psycharist who you can sit down and talk things through with. So my advice would be to stay calm take breaks between studying and remember its ok not to feel ok. You can also call the Samartians on 116123 anytime of the day or night if you feel the need to talk to someone. Also talk to your parents about it and see if they can try and help
Good Luck and let me know how you got on.

GP. Tell them everything. You would not believe the number of people that suffer from the types of things you describe, of all ages. Don't think your mental health "isn't very strong", because you are not alone. Generally this type of anxiety surfaces when you've been trying to be strong in dealing with a million things that worry you, and eventually it all overtakes you. It's not a weakness. Keep talking about it and take it one day at a time. And try not to be worry too much about it (I know that's easier said than done - I've been there myself). You are most definitely not alone in this.

you're in 6th year so probably have a ton of work for LC. it's natural to be anxious about somethings but it's great that you're going to someone to talk this over with.
looking after our mental health is as important as looking after our physical health so you're dealing with this the right way.

get the support you need and see how things go.
in the meantime, if you feel talking to the samaritans would be of any help, they're just a phone call away. also, sharing these feelings with your parents might help, if you can.
    take care of yourself.

Great that you are going to see someone. The earlier the intervention the better and you're in 6th year so you have a great chance to make a big difference to the rest of your life. Hold your appointment. See and GP and ideally a counsellor.
