Playing top golf courses

Its the time of the year that us mere mortals can play some of the top courses in the country. Green fees before the end of march are reasonable enough for the likes of Waterville golf links.
So half thinking of taking the family on an early Easter break. I realise I'm being selfish but I don't see any other way to play these courses. Its also tough when you take a break with the family (with young kids) to disappear for golf for 4/5 hours.
Ideally I'd like to go with a group of golfers or a society but not everyone is as enthusiastic about great golf courses especially links courses as they think they're too difficult. They might have a point this time of year. Then there's work, family time and travel cost.
Is there any society's out there that specialise in playing great courses? Or if not could it work as a society.

A couple of lads did meet up here last year a few times.

But I think a society like that would be great.

The Hilary Golf Society is a little like that - but aimed at near scratch player ( I thnk 4 and lower, but most lads are nearer scratch)
