Wiring advice ensuite light

Hoping someone could shed some light on this

Ensuite light never worked so today is the day to fix, so looked at the wiring of it and has the 3 usual coloured wires coming out of wall

Blue Brown and yellow/green

Question is on the light which has marked L as yellow and blue N
This seems to have go against everything i have googled and how it was wired

I bought a replacement light fixture, same model but the wiring is marked on is again Blue N but brown Live which is in line with the updated colour coding

So basically thinking now the originally was wired incorrectly but not 100%
Any ideas??

Can't see your picture, but as long as there was wiring going to the two terminals it should have worked regardless of what colour it said.
The earth would be connected to the metal body of the lamp usually.
It's unlikely that someone installed it wrong and didn't know.

Lights wired on the same circuit share a neutral and the live only would pass through the switch. The power from one switch would be fed on to the next switch on the same circuit. Normally you would have live wires only at the switch.

Another way of doing it with a 3 plate ceiling rose.

Live and neutral looped round all the lights and with wires dropped from the rose to the switch.


And if you want to do a two way switch that way as well.
