Hi, we need a large freezer for half a heifer we've bought - it'll live in an outhouse, whats good out there?.Can someone explain the deal in defrosting these freezers, or do they self-defrost?Is storing it in the outhouse ok?
A shop in Castleisland gave us a price of E499 on a big Whirlpool, but I'm not so keen on their stuff..We're in North Cork, thanks.

Chest freezers don't defrost automatically so you defrost manually, once a year when new should do fine, when they get older and the insulation isn't as good as when new defrost a bit more often. As long as the shed is dry it should be fine although moisture in the air tends to make the cabinet rust. As regards the whirlpool brand there ok, I even see that they have gone back to Italy again for manufacturing and the Italians were always quite good at refrigeration
