End of last month. I remember seeing a spanish sports journalist mention that Bein and Movistar (I think?) finally came to an agreement to get bein on satellite.

Well, I got only the ITV 1HD channels on the 11097 wavelength. Nothing on the other one.

Yes, it's Astra 1. It's where Sky was in the analogue days.

If scanning on Astra 2 then you won't find Bein Sport.

Stupid question... Can I get this if I am on Sky package with a Sky dish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,841 ✭✭✭lertsnim

No. It is on a different satellite and encrypted so you would need a subscription to view it. Also your Sky box isn't compatible with the subscription needed.

Looks like the English commentary is sadly no more judging by tonight's live premiership game :(

It was on for the first 2min. Then it was cut off. We will see tomorrow night if it's gone or not

Why would tomorrow night be any more conclusive than tonight?

There was a quite deliberate switching off tonight - I'm amazed they got away with it for so long.

Was amusing too as the had an English man commentating in Spanglish, even I could understand most of what he was saying :)

Well, Sky Sports will obviously have English language commentaries next season ;)

They will make better use of the quota limits than Setanta did too, obviously, so there'd be more of the type of games that Bein Sports had as opposed to the dire games Setanta forced upon subscribers.

Of course, if you're a fan of one of the big clubs, live English language commentary is available via their in-house channels. Run in conjunction with a HD picture from abroad it's a great way to watch the 3pms.

any news on how sky will show the 3pm games, will there be a new sky Ireland channel? i have tried to match up the club comm stream and the overseas bradcast its often not lined up, i have uses live pause to try get it lined up but a lot of hassles are there any other ways.

also yes setanta did pick so funny games, an they never give a rachonal for there pick that what was annoying. do they not have a live game this Sunday, i sure they have had live games on the last day befor.?

I would imagine they'd utilise one of the Irish ad channels simulcasting Soccer Saturday and lock it out of UK subscription cards. There's also a "Venues" version (the one with the pint glass) - they may introduce a new Irish exclusive version of that, we'll have to wait and see though, I guess.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if they did introduce a new Sky Sports Ireland - it might be the easiest solution. Likely that this would simply be a simulcast of (say) Sky Sports 1 except for Saturday afternoons.

What will be interesting is how they will lead in to the 3pm. They'll hardly announce it to a UK audience on their live 12.45 game so it'll probably appear as a bumper either side of every ad-break on the Irish version showing the UK-wide match.

As for delaying the audio, I use live||pause and find it works perfectly well. I do use two receivers though - one showing the match and one using the club channel. It no doubt depends on the receiver in use and the image too. A good way to also do this is to chase a recording. So, record the audio channel and run it from the point it's synchronised with the pictures.
Other ways to achieve this are using audio-delay PC software and feeding the receiver's audio in.
There is also a PiP solution to delaying audio using an Enigma2 plugin which superimposes the audio of one channel over the pictures of another channel and you can live||pause to synchronise.
also yes setanta did pick so funny games, an they never give a rachonal for there pick that what was annoying. do they not have a live game this Sunday, i sure they have had live games on the last day befor.?

They did finally admit they were under quota restrictions late last season. Those restrictions are the same as the ones Sky have also indicated they will be working to next season (ie a maximum of 5 showings per team) although it seemed to be discarded by Setanta in the final weeks of this season - in an absurd way too it has to be said.

They have had final day games in previous seasons. Of course they were always dead rubbers; they got lucky with Ferguson's final game though. This season there was a total of 34 games that could be picked in the Saturday 3pm package (which includes a final day game); the reason for this is the way the fixtures fell over Xmas ie Boxing Day matches fell on Saturday this year.
Setanta have used up their 33 at this point as per their contract. It is likely they didn't realise this because there was one week there was just two 3pms; neither were audience pullers. If they'd decided not to show a game that particular week they could've had a game on Sunday.

It's difficult to get right. I usually listen out for distinctive sounds (whistles etc) and, of course, tuning in as early as possible to stand the best chance.

I can't see Sky making their offering HD only - there's still far too many SD boxes out there.
