Recruiter doesn't have job spec..

    Hello there,

So I am currently looking for something new and was contacted by a recruiter who wanted to "work with me".. After all the usual drivel he did come up with an interesting company that I wouldn't mind applying for.

Now he asked would I tailor my CV for the role which was great.

He never mentioned anything about a job spec and I forgot to ask so I followed with that request in email after.

It turns out he doesn't have a spec for the role. I mean WHAT!? While it is a consultancy role and I get the consultantcy firm is hiring across the board (what he said) I still find it very strange they don't have a spec. In fact if I was in management at the consultancy then i'd be pretty pissed at the HR team for being too lazy to specify what kind of candidates they are looking for.

It's either that or else the recruiter spotted that they have openings and he will approach them with my CV.

Just checked the careers page and they do have a position that would fit me. I think I may just contact them directly to be honest.

    What do you all think?

Damn, I hate bashing recruiters but sometimes they make it so hard to resist. The stereotype is just full of garbage and has no problem telling lies.. smh.

    "What do you all think?"

I think you already know what you're going to do and why.

    Just go and do it.

This is exactly what is happening. Consultancy firms are always on the look out for people, so this agent is going to send your c.v. to the firms, in the hope that one or more of them likes your c.v. and wants to call you in for an interview. If he doesn't get a hit, you won't hear from him again.

I have a contact in HR in one of the big four and she receives mails like these from agents on a daily basis.
