    I think it gives shatter some publicity coming up to the election. Don't think he'll get re-elected this tims as he's been hiding ever since his 'resignation'.

    Why do you think Kenny is lying? You can always suggest to someone that they resign. It does not mean they were fired.

    TBH I think Shatter was very hard done by. He brought forward a lot of serious reforming legislation. He is one of the more principled ones - for example turning up at Stepaside Garda station couple of weeks ago at the protest on its closure to tell the protesters it was the Garda Commissioners choice. He lost votes for telling the truth there. Instead a perfect storm was whipped up by the opposition with the connivence of the media and some extraordinary incompetence in GSOC. There were (and are) plenty of issues with the Gardai that caused the rest. And I do accept Oliver Connolly appointment was a serious enough misjudgment. I suspect history will be kinder to him then the Media were at the time...
