Hi just wondering if there are any people out there who are Orthodox and living in Ireland or are Irish and have converted if they'd like to tell me of their experience. Is there a large Irish orthodox community ? I'm interested in the Orthodox Church, thank you.

    Russian Orthodox?
    Greek Orthodox?
    Eastern Orthodox?
    Coptic Orthodox?

I think they're all Christian Orthodox Churches?

    Please explain further, their beliefs etc . . . . .

There were 44,003 Orthodox Christians in Ireland according to the 2011 census. The overwhelming majority would be immigrants from Orthodox countries (Russia,Greece,Ukraine,Serbia...) or their descendants/children.

I know that the priest for the Romanian Orthodox parish in Dublin, Godfrey O'Donnell, was a Catholic priest who left the priesthood to marry and subsequently joined the Orthodox church. Another example of an Irish convert is Adrian Cosby, whose family owns Stradbally Hall in Laois, who joined the Russian Orthodox Church from the COI some years back and built a church in Stradbally.

The "Unbelievable" show on Premier Christian Radio had an interesting show a while ago on the increasing numbers of people from an evangelical background who join the Orthodox church, you can download it here.

Not Orthodox myself but it's a very beautiful tradition and I should really make it my business to learn more about it.
