People fear car cloning. Personally, I take it as a bad sign as the person likely doesn't want a car / tax check run on the car. Unless its a high end model where someone wants some privacy, I don't see any need to block it. Most cars are so common in Ireland that cloning a plate is a simple as going for a 5 min drive or selecting one of 100 other cars up for sale on the site. Finally, it's a buyers market so you're limiting your audience.

If you block it you also prevent people from checking it on motorcheck or whatnot. This will limit buyer's interest.

If you crashed your car, owe money on it, or it's stolen, don't put it up with the plate.

If the car is priced too high, people will avoid, too low, and people will assume the above.

Personally, when buying the last two cars, I never rang anyone to ask for their cars reg plate; I just click the "next" button.

if you have nothing to hide then show the registration number it makes the advert look more genuine and you'll get more interest.

You should also consider putting add on Done Deal.

When you're looking online for a 2nd hand car, would you bother with any ad that blocked out the Reg plate? When selling anything always ask yourself what you'd want to see or know if you were looking to buy that item and give any potential buyer the important info. Reg no. Is pretty important on a car.....!!!!!

For me personally, when I'm looking at cars online, blanked reg plates are the equivalent of just not uploading a photo in the first place. I just ignore the ad and move on.

Besides, if i did want your car enough; I may need the reg plate to do a history check, etc. If I ask for the reg over the phone, will you give it to me? Of course you will. So why bother hiding it in the first place.
