Chimley blocks on edge or flat requirements

The block layers are starting on an internal chimney in our new build soon and I'm curious as to the requirements for what block we can use i.e. do they need to be on edge or flat?

We will only ever use it for an wood burning insert flush with the wall.

With blocks on flat it only leaves us with 685mm width for the stove, the room is rectangular and fairly large so we would like to leave open the possibility of adding a large rectangular insert that is proportionate to the room (Can't really tell until house finished)

    Thanks

Never mind, our architect informed us it must be minimum 200mm for side walls as per TGD Part J, page 9.
