    Hi guys
Does anyone know if the new Ecobee 3, that is Apple home kit approved, is suitable to use in Ireland ?
My new energy efficient boiler uses EPH controller with wireless thermostat in the Hallway, I was thinking of replacing it with the new Ecobee as Nest is not home kit approved anymore and was kicked off apple website
    many thanks

    Hi,

Did either of you guys end up installing the Ecobee in Ireland? I sent Ecobee support a message and got the following reply which helps but as a novice I still need help determining what is involved..

    "
At this time we do not support ecobee for use in countries outside of North America. You're free to install at your own risk however we cannot say whether or not ecobee will work for you in Ireland. With regards to voltage, 240V is MUCH too high. 24V-AC is required to run the ecobee.

The ecobee3 is designed to control 24VAC HVAC systems and cannot directly control line voltage equipment. An external line voltage to 24V transformer would be needed to power the ecobee3 and the appropriate 24V load contactors to be wired into the ecobee’s and your Fan Coil line voltage circuits. This won’t be a direct swap out of existing thermostat’s.
    "

Even if it's a case that you decided not to go for the Ecobee, that would be great information and I would greatly appreciate a response.

    Many thanks

    Hi,

When I contacted EcoBee support I didn't get the answer I was hoping for. They don't officially support it so I decided to avoid until such time as it is. See their response below.
