    Hi all,

I'm selling a 07 VW Passat Estate and am wondering what are the best sites online to advertise it on its a private sell? Also anything I should be looking out for i.e. scams etc that are going on at the moment.

    Thanks
    Neon

Carzone, donedeal are the two big ones.
You can also use adverts.ie but be aware there will be people suggesting to swap your car for an old refrigerator. Just ignore them.

When selling car YOU send the logbook to Shannon, don't give it to buyer.

Thanks for the tip on the logbook - something I hadn't thought about.

Donedeal. Try to take the full 9 or 10 pics and include interior pics, include a long description including service history and when major jobs like timing belt and new tyres added etc.

Would go with Donedeal. Adverts is ok for smaller items but i find it packed with timewasters when it comes to cars. Far more chance of a quick sale on DD.

    DoneDeal.

Carzone probably worth a go too but it's mainly populated with dealer ads so you'll be up against it for your ad to stand out. Private buyers tend to migrate to doneDeal.

Don't even bother with Adverts. Not even for small stuff in my experience. Total joke shop.

As for scams.... Just use common sense. Don't respond to obvious scam texts / emails with odd looking email addresses / phone numbers enquiring about the "item" you have for sale or wondering if you can ship it to Nigeria.

DoneDeal, carsireland is getting huge traffic now & carzone.

Don't overprice it as you'll get no calls
Give car full full valet before taking lots of photos
Take photos on bright dry day
Do t have too much of surrounding area in photos, use the full photo th showcase the part of the car in the pic

include the mileage in description photo of mileage is also nice
don't waste words with no time wasters, tyre kickers or test pilots

double check spellings nice bright photos.

mechanical inspection welcome is good sign.
    don't hide reg plate
    DoneDeal probably best site

look at what similar cars like yours are advertised at and how long there are up for. you will need to price according to mileage and price and not be one of the most expensive if you want a reasonable quick sale.

everyone who is willing to buy car will want to test drive. you need to go with them. IF someone does give a deposit make it clear that it is to hold the car for a limited period of time and not refundable if they change their mind later.

First impressions count so keep the car clean and take out any personal stuff before buyer calls

    best of luck.
