Hi everyone I can't bleed my oil burner. Iv been trying for ages without any luck :-(

I have attached a pic of the oil pump if that is of any help. There's no oil what so ever coming out. Not even hissing when I press the reset button :-(

Have you unscrewed the fitting holding the flexible metal pipe visible in the botyom of the picture, coming from the oil tank? 15mm spanner usually. Unless you have at least half filled the oil tank, you'll need to suck this pipe to get the fuel coming. When air bubbles stop coming screw the pipe back into the burner body. Now turn on heating in house and press restart button.

Can I disconnect the flexi fitting here and suck it?

For some reason you later pics aren't downloading for me, but disconnect the flexible pipe where it enters the bottom of the burner. Catch oil in a jam jar or similar. If you have a metre or CLEAN rubber tubing you can stick it on the oil pipe and suck till you get the oil moving through the oil pipe, and hopefully avoid getting a mouthful of keto.

    ?

Right I disconnect that fitting in the pic and got a dirty mouthful of kerosene so I know it's getting that far.

Now let it run into a container until air stops coming. Let a pint out, or so. Screw the pipe back into the burner and now press the illuminated "reset" button. It should start. If it dosent start, and the red button lights again, press it again and it should go. If it dosent, you could have more serious problems and will need a technician.

I think I might get a plumber tomorrow. Iv already puked from the taste of kerosene in mouth. Don't fancy it again :-(

On the firevalve, turn the knurl head wheel fully anticlock wise, you should see threads above the knurl head wheel

Did you open the 15mm nut/bolt in pic 1 and press the reset button on the burner. You can also bleed pump with a 4mm allen key on the side of the pump

Did the oil flow freely after this?,
    If not,
How high above the firevalve is the oil tank...
How far away is the oil tank..
What volume of oil is in the oil tank..,

ps. You may need a technician with a suction pump to get the oil to run freely.only press the reset button on the burner a few times or your in danger of damaging the burner pump.kerosene/oil is the lubricant for the pump

Hi the oil tank is two foot above that. I can't get it to flow freely at all.

It looks like you will need a suction pump to get the oil flowing id say.

Where would I buy one of those and are they expensive?

For some reason I haven't been able to see some attachments since the big crash.
Unless the tank is a great distance from the burner, If you got at least 500l of oil and your tank is 2ft above the fire valve, the oil will flow if you have disconnected the oil line from the pump (you should not actually have to do this to bleed the pump). If it does not flow freely, there is a blockage, or the fire valve is closed or faulty - the threads on the handle may be worn.
Having got the oil to flow past the fire valve and reconnected the oil line, you have to bleed the oil pump - I cannot see the photos, so I am not sure what oil pump you have or where the bleed screw is. If the burner is a Riello, do not turn the screw that takes a flat head screwdriver, it is a pressure adjuster.
    Jim.

Its also a big advantage if the tubing is CLEAR or transparent, as you can see the paraffin coming up the tube. Incidently, I had success with one of these below with an outside grant boiler.

Hi everyone I got the oil boiler going. I rang a plumber up the road who was too busy to come to me today but he said I probably had an air lock in the oil line from the tank to the boiler as I couldn't get any flow of oil at all.

He suggested I use my air compressor and blow air bak up the oil line and low and behold a nice flow of oil within one minute ;-)

Thanks everyone for all yet advice and help

Good stuff, at least you got going. Have you got a filter bowl on the outlet of your oil tank?
If so, could be worthwhile unscrewing the bowl and cleaning the mesh filter inside.

Ya there is a filter thing between the tank and the oil line alright
