Mailing liquid/cream abroad?

    Not sure where else to post this but hoping someone can help with advice.

    I tried to mail a tub of cream (400ml) this morning in AnPost but the man working there said it'd just end up getting returned to me because, apparently, you can't mail liquids or creams and the like. Not sure why this is, though, because I've heard of people doing similar to as far away as New Zealand with no issues?

    Can anyone share some insight?

    I'd just mail it and say nothing. It might get there. Unless it's too expensive to risk it.

    My mother sent me some of her home-made chutney once while i lived abroad. When I finally got the box it had a sticker on it saying it had been examined by customs in Tokyo.

    I always wondered what they would have thought when they opened up the chutney.

    Google can:eek: The man was only following rules set by the airlines body that deals with transport of goods by air; google 'an post liquids' and the first link has this;

    Do not send

    Never send liquids outside of the Republic of Ireland using any of our services. We cannot accept liquids due to IATA regulations. Other restrictions for both national and international services include explosives, corrosives and irritants. Many international destinations have additional restrictions on items the will accept by post. If you have any concerns please contact....

    Contact a courier, they might have an exemption if they follow any special packaging requirements.

    Cream as in face cream or dairy cream? I think its got to be the first so just mail it. ! Hermann Goering smuggled his cyanide pills into prison in a tub of cream - not a lot of people know that.:D
