I am planning on giving up my SKY subscription, it is not worth the €68/month. If I cancel my subscription, I own my own dish and HD+box, will I still be able to receive the free to air channels?

Yes. But I would get a combi or a Freesat box. You need a Saorview TV or STB for the Irish channels as they are not FTA on Satellite (28.2E).

Thanks Sam. I fear I am guilty of not knowing to give full information as to my precise dilemma!! Mk SKY+ box is in the attic and hard wired via an amp to 3 rooms controlled by 3 magic eyes. It has no telephone or internet connection though wifi is available. None of the TVs are saorview as they are all about 7 years old but in perfect order.

I am not familiar with that type of arrangement but the Saorview boxes would be put adjacent to the TVs. Depending on how they connect up, you can send the Satellite signal (or RF signal) down the same wire as the Saorview signal with a diplexer.

The main reason people go for that type of solution is because of the high subscription charge. Could be worth re thinking it out.

There is a new range of Saorview receivers about to be launched including a combi Saorview/satellite receiver, no details yet but announcement due soon.
If you can wait it might be a suitable option for your non-Saorview TVs.
