Am I using all my "download speed"?

I've got a plan with a local line of sight company and no complaints, but I'm currently paying for their top package and I'm not sure if I need it. My internet needs are pretty low, I don't use Netflix or anything, I don't even stream music. I do download a lot, though, so what I'd like to check is over say a month period, was there any time where I was maxing out my speed. I can then judge if moving down a package might work for me.

Is there any sort of logger I can get that will check my "usage" speed (rather than the tests from sites like speedtest) over a period of time?

Usually the FWA suppliers(am presuming its one) know to the Kb what you are using do they have any kind of an online portal?
Failing that guess you could look at your router stats and reset it whenever your bill date is so you know whats used in a particular period. That is of course if you can log in to it......

Install Networx, you can download from the link below and it's free. It will show you your daily, weekly and monthly usage.

He's more looking for a live traffic graph vs usage stats.

OP Ctrl + Shift + Esc to get task manager, go to the performance tab and select wifi/ethernet then leave that open in the corner of your screen, you'll be able to watch for peak transfer speeds (on that device).

Thanks all. Doesn't sound like there's a perfect solution for me, I was hoping for something that worked (and logged) while I wasn't there, as my downloads tend to happen at night. But getting in touch with the provider is an idea. I would assume that they have all sorts of stats on me due to their fair usage policy. Not sure I want to poke that beast, though :D

I think these guys might be able to help

just had a read of their requirements and they download 3 GB and upload 1GB each month so maybe it might be worth contacting them first..........
Is the connection you have slowing at night when you are downloading?

Again not what he wants. He's looking for instantaneous usage not available bandwidth.

A PFSense box is the answer OP, but that would nullify any potential savings.

Probably not but its worth a read all the same as it does give all that info and then some but would probably kill a download cap.
Op my FWA provider was able to give me a login for the router/Antenna on a read only basis which showed as far as i can remember most if not all the info that you require and that did not cost me a penny. (Manufacturer was Ubiquiti afaik)
    So it can be done.................
