Surgery Cancelled AGAIN

So I am waiting to have surgery in St James Hospital and my admission date has now been cancelled 5 times. I got my original admission date for first week of January andhad to ring in the morning to see if a bed was available.NO BED so had to ring following week again - NO BED and so the saga continues being cancelled every week since.

It is a ridiculous system to be given an admission date and then to be cancelled. It is a nerve racking time going into hospital and this just adds to the pressure.
For a healthy person a week is a short period of time with work, social activities etc not enough hours in their day. But for a sick person who is stuck at home, in pain and worrying about surgery, a week is a feckin long time.

I could rant on for hours here about it all, but hopefully you get the idea of how deflated I feel every time I get cancelled. I would love to hear your stories too.

My sympathies - that is a very stressful form of recycling of appointments.

Could the National Treatment Purchase Fund be of any help to you ?

    Here is the link www.ntpf.ie/home/index.htm

If you ring them and talk it through you might get some help or useful ideas. Phone [Dublin ] 6427 101.

If they have no useful remedy speak to your GP and see if there is any chance of referral elsewhere. I doubt that this might yield anything where you are dealing with the public system but it would be worth checkeing.

Can't believe they cancelled on you so many times - hope you have had your surgery now and are on the road to recovery!
My surgery has been cancelled twice - was meant to be 4th March now have 'provisional' date for 11th April. Really wrecks your head when your all geared up for the operation and it gets cancelled!
