IBS Consultant

    Can someone recommend a consultant for my 17 year old son with IBS. Once again he can't go to school today and is missing an exam - his Mock LC. The meds prescribed by his doctor aren't helping and before I ask her to make a referral I would like to hear who other IBS sufferers have found good.

    Would this not fall within the remit of most gastroenterologists ?

    I am not sure if individual recommendations are allowed on this forum.

    Some consultants are more helpful than others especially when it comes to these 'invisible' illnesses. As someone with fibromyalgia I have found they can range from rude and dismissive to sympathetic and useful. I've often made recommendations myself for others with fibro here but if people aren't comfortable posting names they could pm me.

    You would get better advice on a support group. Boards isn't really the place for this kinda chat. Sometimes theres a private support group on facebook.
